Ivy-leaf Ground-cherry

a.k.a. Ivyleaf Groundcherry
Physalis hederifolia
Family: Nightshade | Potato

The pods of this plant hang down under the leaves and as it’s such a short plant, it’s a small miracle that I actually saw them. The pods are about an inch long. The pods hold a cherry, hence the name. I’ve got cherry pictures…. somewhere.

I read where the Zuni peoples used the cherry to make a condiment. I don’t know… not sure want to try it.
