Golden Corydalis

a.k.a. scrambled eggs
Corydalis aurea
Synonym: Fumewort
Family: Poppy

I found this plant a little bit of a challenge to key out. By looking at those tiny flowers, my first thought was that it was a member of the pea family. This is a very little plant. I’d have better pictures if I laid on the ground to take them. I’ll see if I can get better pictures later in the season. The photos here now are from mid April.

Even though we have 4 hummingbird feeders, I saw a hummer hovering just inches from the ground to drink the nectar of one of these plants. I couldn’t get an ID on him though but we only had 3 species visiting at the time. The Magnificent, the Black-chinned and the Broad-tailed hummingbirds.
