Picture-winged Fly

Ceroxys latiusculus

The picture-winged fly is well known for the fact that it enters homes in the fall, where it proceeds to die by November. Which explains how we first came to see it in late March inside the window.

Don’t worry though, it’s really only about the size of a normal housefly. I found out that their larva develop in the seed heads of members of the daisy family. So now, of course, I want to investigate and see which species. I also want macro zoom pictures.
