Cassin’s Finch

Cassin’s Finch

Haemorhous cassinii

  • ORDER: Passeriformes
  • FAMILY: Fringillidae

We saw them for the first time this year on 3/26/19 when we returned home after being gone for about 10 days. It was just two at the feeder that first day. They were intermixed with all the little juncos. A couple of days later there were at least 6 at the feeder.

They look alot like purple finches, but the Cassin’s finch shows a white eye ring.
